After spending a day with my old friends, I came to this conclusion: True friends are those who can still sit right beside you regardless of the time period and listen to your innermost feelings, even though you may have been to different places and have experienced totally different things.
Yesterday, my closest friend, Charlene, who has been my best friend forever, invited Emily, Phoebe and I to a sleepover at a hotel. We had buffet at a fancy restaurant, played card games, watched horror films that aren’t scary at all, and then, we just lay on bed and then talked. Since one of us hasn’t been with us for a really long time, there were so many things we didn’t know about her during the year that she wasn’t here. And there were also many things she has missed. We talked about study, family, friends, schools, and even gossips. We talked until we saw the sun rise. We fell asleep afterwards. When we woke up, it’s already the noon, we knew it’s time to say goodbye again. But before that, we took a video of our wishes for the future, and our current situation. We hope next year, we can watch this video together, and then take a new one. We want to record our endless friendship, so when we grow old, we can still remember these joyful memories until the moment we pass away.
After Emily and Phoebe left, I had lunch with Charlene. I can still remember the last time we saw each other was Christmas. During lunch, we recalled some very interesting memories of us. We met in the kindergarten. At that time, we always talk and we never stopped talking. But then, she went to America. We wished we could see each other again. Two years later, in primary school, we ended up being schoolmates. That surprised me. In Junior high, we even got into the same class. At that time, we wished we could go to the same college and live in the same dorm so that we can see each other everyday. For now, although the possibilities seem to be really low, we still have the same wish. Continued talking. We talked about majors, colleges, jobs, and even marriage. We suddenly realized they weren’t impossible topics for us to talk about; in fact, most likely they will happen in the next ten years. We always dream about things, this time, for the future, we wish we could still be there for each other no matter what and when.
Throughout the decade of our friendship, we found we both grew up and we are both trying very hard to maintain this precious friendship. We become mature despite we aren’t adults yet since topics we talk about now are more than gossips; we focus more on our future. Although these few years, we didn’t get much time to be with each other and we didn’t talk much, but deep down inside me, I always know she is and will be my best friend forever, just like a family. In the past, we shared secrets, we dreamed about things and we always stick together, those memories will never go away and further more, maybe we haven’t realized yet that those memories have became an unbroken bond between us. We may argue, we may fight, but at the end, we always take care of each other, just like what a family do.
To the eleventh year of this friendship, I sincerely hope our wishes can all come true. Best wishes to my best friend, Charlene.
