I've just come back from a theatre show that one of my dad's friends invited our family to watch. The comedic play is called <爱得死去活来>. It's really hard to translate it into English, but I think it means "deep love" to my understanding.
The play was about after a man has just broke up with his fifteenth girlfriend at his thirtieth birthday, he drank himself to death. After he died, he met a very interesting devil in the hell that offered him a deal: five chances coming back to live to find that love he had always wanted, if he could find it, he could be happy ever after.

After he died, he met a very interesting devil in the hell that offered him a deal: five chances coming back to live to find that love he had always wanted, if he could find it, he could be happy ever after.
Honestly I don't quite remember all those details in the play, but I do remember that every time the man wants to come back to live, he asks the devil to give whatever kinds of life he wants. I can't remember everything. But I do remember, when he asks for a simple life, his wife left him because he doesn't have any money; when he wants to become famous, he has already got married to another man, which was insane; when he wants to have power, he became the emperor, and poisoned by the woman he loved the most; and finally when he got all that money, he had an affair and his life became a mess. He just couldn't find a real and pure love that he had been dreaming of. But, he saw a girl in every scene, the very same girl, he just couldn't remember who she was.
Well, all of these wouldn't happen if he made the right choice years ago. At that time, he had a love of his life, which was the girl he kept seeing. He thought he needed to be successful so that the girl's father would say yes to their marriage. He left her and headed to a big city alone. That's how everything started. The reason he sees her every time is because he never really forgets about her despite his several reborn. Finally, devil agreed to send him back to that day, the day he left her. When he faced the same choice, this time, he chose the right one. He stayed. The play came to an end and also led to the implication of the play.
By using a comedic play, the director wants to let people know that: people always say that love above all. But how many of them are really willing to do that? The society has changed a lot. People care more about reputation, money and things that don't even matter in the past. By watching the play, I realized that no matter how successful you are, if you marry and spend the rest of your life with someone you don't even love, your life will become nothing but misery. All the things you've been fighting for would suddenly become ashes that mean nothing to you anymore. But if you make the right choice and end up with someone you truly love, your life would be filled with happiness. Even though, you may have nothing in your life yet, but with that person, you could create anything you want, not to mention money, business even a family.
I guess what I get from the play, is that don't give up the opportunity in your life to love and don't give up the person you truly love. Of course bread is important. But without the love, you would get lost and your entire life would be meaningless unless that's how you want to en up with. Another thing is that, if you didn't cherish the chance or the person at the first place, you would never go back to that place no matter how hard you pray. Regret could destroy you. And please remember no one could really make a deal with devil. The only thing you could do is to deal with your own emotion, before you end things with someone or consider leaving someone, think thoroughly about how you really feel about that person, because once you make the choice, you would never ever going back again. Why let the regret and anger tear you up? Why not cherish when you still have it?
